Your company’s culture is not much different than an individual’s personality. If someone has a great personality–humorous, easy-going, positive, etc.–they’re much more fun to be around.
A company’s culture works the same way.
If you have great company culture not only do employees like being around it so do patients. And it can lead to more referrals.
The big mistake most clinics make is…not ever clearly defining one. And they usually end up with one they don’t like or intend to have.
Creating a company culture is not that hard.
Learn from the likes of Zappos, Google, or Southwest and build a great culture for increased success.
It begins with listing out how you expect staff to behave. What kind of attitude do you wish them to have? How do you want them to think, act and interact?
I like to start with the “A-B-C”s.
A (stands for) = Acknowledge
Simply acknowledging people can do wonders for your business. For example, if one of your employees has a great attitude and smiles a lot acknowledge them at the next team meeting or training. It goes a long way.
If a patient does a great job showing up, doing their home exercises, and presents with positive attitude all the time, acknowledge it with a card and gift.
Acknowledge people.
Make it part of your culture. Make sure you reflect it on your website, emails, and in-clinic.
I once put up a sign on our wall that read, “We acknowledge great attitude.” and I swear patients and staff alike had better attitudes since then.
It makes a difference.
It makes it easier when recruiting and hiring new employees!
It increases family and friend referrals!
What is your company culture, what are some things you do?
