Needed Items to Train

1. Training badge (optional)

It sometimes helps to inform patients that a person is in training.

2. Terminology & abbreviations hand-out

Speaking the language of your office is the first step in training

3. Training manual (appropriate for the position)

This does not have to be extensive and formal.  Just make sure the things you want them to accomplish from day to day is written. Follow the rule, "If it's not written, it doesn't exist."

The training process involves the following steps:

  • Verbal explanation
  • Demonstration
  • Employee Performance
  • Feedback on Employee's Performance
  • Repeat the above
  • Repeat the above 2 more times
  • Establish both positive and negative consequences.

Needed Items to Motivate

The most important item is a job description that links their performance to...

  • More pay
  • Security
  • Flexibility
  • Camaraderie
  • Responsibility
  • Authority

If must demonstrate to your staff that if they perform well they will get their needs met. This is the only way to limitless motivation.

Needed Items to Pay

1. Quickbooks payroll service or accountant service

Enroll with the Quickbooks Payroll Service at http://www.payroll.com.  Use your timesheet to gather payroll data. I recommend a semi-monthly (twice per month) pay schedule where the pay period ends on the 15th and last day of each month with the paydays being on the following week (ie. the 22nd and 7th).

2. Direct deposit or business checks w/security envelope

Key to Success

Your staff comes first, even before patients.  Serve them well and they will serve you well.

Important Reminder

Pay them more than they expect to get paid.
