How
important is this
step?
Defining who you are
as a business can be
the
difference between
success and
failure. Most
beginners don't know
how or merely do
not perform this
step and later
wonder why they
aren't succeeding.

Where do I begin?
Determine the
type of private
practice you
want to have.
See the real big
picture five,
ten years down
the road...where
do you see
yourself?
Envision the
small stages and
steps necessary
to get you from
here to there.
1) How
much money do
you have now to
allocate towards
this venture?
Where is your
starting point?
Do you want to
be a solo
practitioner
office and stay
that way or will
you setup a
large group
facility with a
pool and
sophisticated
equipment
immediately? I
recommend you
start out small
and steadily
grow.
2) Keep your
niche in mind
when answering
these questions:
-
Why will
people want
to do
business
with you?
As a
patient? As
a referral
source?
-
What makes
you stand
out from all
others in
your area?
-
What makes
you unique?
-
Why are you
the #1
choice?
3) Define the
essence of your
practice using
only six
key words.
For example:
"physical--therapy--adolescent--sports--injury--experts"
4) Give a
description of
your practice
using 26-30
words only.
This will be
used many
times in your
marketing tools
and whenever
someone asks,
"What do you
do?"
For
example:
"Highly
specialized physical
therapy
care for
adolescents
suffering
from sports
injury. Our
advanced
techniques,
programs and
equipment
will promote
a fast
recovery and
return to
high level
performance!"
It may help to
think of some of
your special
services,
benefits, or
conveniences
such as:
-
location
-
hours of
operation
-
appointment
conveniences
-
payment
plans
-
languages
-
etc.
It's important
that you enjoy
working with
people, that
you're a good
therapist,
and you
genuinely care
for others,
etcetera but
it's not
unique.
It's actually
expected by
everyone
already.

Important Reminder
The more focused
your practice in the
beginning, the
better. You can
always expand later.
